While walking along the venues of the festival Natura.Kreativ in Altenmarkt I came across a class in creative sculpture ran by artist Walter Puchmayr. Participants were told how to create artworks by combining driftwood, stones and metal in a creative way.
Personally I was especially impressed by the idea to work with driftwood. This is not just wood. This is widely travelled wood. Pieces which had floated for miles and saw a lot of different manifestations of a river.
Walter Puchmayr told me he generally uses local driftwood which he had collected in the days before the classes take place. By the way at the class I saw some interesting examples of work, such as a tea-light holder made of wood with a piece of nacre as reflector.
