The Kunsthaus Bregenz is known not only as one of the leading houses for contemporary art but also for its facade, which is made of 712 glass parts. I took the photo from the nearby railway line and was amazed by the similar colours in the windows, sky and trees. [German]
The interior…
The load-bearing walls in the interior are chosen to have space for high and voluminous installations. An exhibition in 2005 gave me an interesting insight into the suspended ceiling. As a visitor, I climbed an area that stretched between the load-bearing ceiling and the covered ceiling panels.
… and the outer skin
During a special tour as part of Art Bodensee 2016, I had the opportunity to walk across a narrow walkway between the load-bearing masonry and the facade. I got under the skin of the Kunsthaus, so to speak. Since the glass parts are not transparent, the view of Bregenz remained limited, though.
