A city wall still surrounds Nuremberg (Nürnberg) to a large extent. I had an excellent view of the guard’s walkway from my hotel window.

On a train journey through Pongau, a region of the Austrian state Salzburg, I took this photo through the windows of my train. It shows parts of the city walls of Radstadt. The city dates back to the 13th century. Today, it is a member of the Small Historic Cities (Kleine Historische Städte) in Austria.

On a sunny day in autumn, I walked along the reconstructed Roman city wall of Ljubljana. During the Roman period, the name of this place was Colonia Iulia Aemona or just Emona.
