The Mariazell Railway (Mariazellerbahn) is an electrically operated narrow-gauge railway which connects the Lower Austrian capital of Sankt Pölten with the Styrian pilgrimage centre of Mariazell.

Steam locomotive Z11 of the Schafberg Railway
The steam locomotive Z11 was built in 1992 as part of the class 999.2. It is operated by the Schafberg Railway (Schafbergbahn). The railway leads from Sankt Wolfgang up to the Schafberg. This metre gauge cog railway is pretty steep. At a total length of 5.85 km, it gains 1,200 m height difference.
Selke Valley Railway in Harz
The Selke Valley Railway (Selketalbahn) connects the places Quedlingburg and Hasselfelde/Eisfelder Talmühle with a branch to Harzgerode. It is part of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen), the largest narrow gauge network in Germany. At my first visit I took a ride from Alexisbad to Gernrode.

On the tracks of a former narrow-gauge railway between Ruprechtshofen and Wieselburg one have the chance to drive a draisine now. On a line of about 11 km one drive through a small area of swamp and after overcoming a little hill and having a break there one can dashing down to Wieselburg.

On my night stroll through the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, an industrial heritage park in the Ruhr area, I came across this torpedo car. These cars are used for hauling molten pig iron from the blast furnace to the next processing unit.

Interesting mural seen at an abandoned building next to the railway station of Deutsch-Wagram. It shows a train dating back to the first days of passenger trains in Austria. On 23rd November 1837 the first steam train of the Austrian empire started to run from Floridsdorf to Deutsch-Wagram.

A steam locomotive known as Mh.3 seen in Krimml. The locomotive was built in 1906 and is still in operation along the railroad of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn. These classic train trips are organized by Club 399.

While heading to Gerlos by car I came across this steam train using the railroad of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn. The train maintained by Club 399 was drawn by a steam locomotive named Mh.3 built in 1906.
