The Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (Harz Narrow Gauge Railways) are widely known for their steam trains running up and down the Harz Mountains. But they also offer diesel railbuses (Class 187) dating back to the 1990s.
Diesel railbus HSB Class 187
While I waited for one of the mentioned steam trains, a diesel railbus (HSB Class 187) entered the railway station of Alexisbad. At first glance, it looked like a pretty old design. But I was wrong. The railbus saw its completion in 1999.
Besides the design, I was surprised by another detail. There were outer rear-view mirrors on both sides of the coach. A passenger told me that the railbus runs like a tramway for a short distance. So, there was a need for these not railway-like mirrors.
