21er Haus in Vienna
The former Austrian pavilion at Expo 58 in Brussels stands next to the Vienna central station (Wien Hauptbahnhof). In the beginning, it housed contemporary art of the 20th century. So it was nick-named 20er Haus. After remodelling from 2009 to 2011, it was renamed 21er Haus to reflect the new century.
Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
While passing the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Akademie der Bildenden Künste), I always love to look at the fine wall paintings. Inside the building, you find a collection of old masters worth a visit.
Lamp at Salzburg Central Station
The rebuilt central station of Salzburg still uses some elements of the old railway station. For example, 100+-year-old tile paintings and lamps like the one shown above provide a vintage feeling in the entrance hall.

Now that I call an appetizing name for a train! This train connecting Vienna with Freilassing (Germany) is named ‘Gutes Essen im Zug’ (English: ‘Good meals on train’)
The cute cat of Friedberg
Friedberg is a city in a rural region of Austria where people generally greet neighbours as well as strangers like me. Even this cat gives me a warm welcome.
Ungartor in Friedberg
The walls of Friedberg were built with money from the ransom for Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart). The gate depicted above is a reconstruction. It is known as Ungartor.
Thonet Museum in Friedberg
On my way from the railway station to the centre of Friedberg, I passed this museum, which was hosting an exhibition of furniture produced by the famous factory Thonet.
