Construction site of Vienna Central Station
The 10th day of my InterRail journey started in Vienna. My destination on that day was Brno in Czechia. From my train, I had an excellent view of the construction site for the new Vienna Central Station (Wiener Hauptbahnhof).
Monument to Sisi at Wiener Westbahnhof
The 9th day of my InterRail journey ended at the railway station Wiener Westbahnhof in Vienna. It was nearly midnight when I arrived. Only the statue of Elisabeth of Austria (‘Sisi’) bid me welcome. The sculpture reminds me that this railway station was one end of the Empress Elisabeth Railway.

At Innsbruck central station (Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof), I had a look at this public art by Max Weiler. The depicted man at the right edge of the painting represents an important person in the history of Innsbruck. It is Emperor Maximilian I.
Schattenburg Castle in Feldkirch
While waiting for the Railjet to Zurich, I glimpsed at Schattenburg Castle (Schattenburg). One day, I’ll come back to visit the museum inside. 18 historic furnished rooms tell about the history of the castle and its region.
Mural in Hohenems
While passing the railway station of Hohenems with an Austrian commuter train I took this photo of a mural with historical background. It refers to the fact that parts of the ‘Song of the Nibelungs’ (Nibelungenlied) has been found in Hohenems.

On a train journey through Styria (Austria) I took this photo of a mountain called Grimming. I love to call views through the window at the opposite side ‘Train TV’. It’s a bit like looking at a flat screen, isn’t it?
Befogged castle on Semmering Railway
The Semmering Railway was the first mountain railway in Europe with a standard gauge track. In 1998 it found its way to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. The views from the trains are amazing. E.g. in autumn, you see this befogged castle next to the railroad.

Pecorino, a dog on pilgrimage
Today I visited a reading in Vienna. Star of the event was the dog Pecorino. He and his master became famous for doing a pilgrimage in Italy. Pecorino is considered to be the first dog who owns a pilgrimage pass.
