A dreamy place for a dinner in Salzburg is the inneryard of the restaurant St. Peter Stiftskeller. This site was first mentioned in the year 803 by the scholar Alcuin – a follower of Charlemagne.
Gate at Upper Belvedere Palace in Vienna
Main gate in front of the Upper Belvedere Palace (Oberes Belvedere). The lions are showing the crest of Prince Eugene of Savoy. He was the first owner of the palace. Today the Upper Belvedere houses a great collection of paintings.
Golden Roof in Innsbruck
The Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) is a building with a late Gothic oriel in the old town part of Innsbruck. Its name originates from the fire-gilded cooper tiles of the roof. A small museum inside the building tells about its history. [German]
Bad Mitterndorf Railway Station
The railway station of Bad Mitterndorf is part of the Salzkammergut Railway (Salzkammergutbahn), where you can still see typical Austrian railway stations of the 19th century. I took this photo while sitting on a waiting train opposite the station building.
Kunsthaus Bregenz (KUB)
The Kunsthaus Bregenz is known not only as one of the leading houses for contemporary art but also for its facade, which is made of 712 glass parts. I took the photo from the nearby railway line and was amazed by the similar colours in the windows, sky and trees. [German]

Bischofshofen Railway Station
On my rail trips through Austria, I often change the train in Bischofshofen. That’s a railway station in the middle of the mountains of the Austrian state of Salzburg. The mountain range in the background is named Tennengebirge.
Waiting for the opposite train
The charm of travelling single track railways in Austria: While waiting for the opposite train you have the chance to watch cattle grazing in a lovely landscape. This photo I took on such a siding place between Stainach and Schladming in the Austrian state of Styria.
Salzburg Cathedral
The Salzburg Cathedral (Dom zu Salzburg) saw its construction in the 17th century. In the background, you find the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. Interesting detail: From the Cathedral Museum (Dommuseum), you see the nave from above.
Public inner yard in Salzburg
This pic shows one of the numerous public inner yards connecting the shopping lane Getreidegasse with parallel streets in the city of Salzburg. The local name for the surrounding buildings is Durchhäuser (through-houses).

View from the Steinterasse to the Salzburg roof landscape. The Steinterasse is a café on top of Hotel Stein. From there, you have a panorama view of the most iconic sights of Salzburg. In addition, you also look at the small-structured roof landscape near the Steingasse and the Kapuzinerberg.
