Donaustauf Castle (Burgruine Donauaustauf) is a castle ruin near the Danube River in the Bavarian region of Upper Palatinate (Oberpfalz). From the ruins, you have a good view of the nearby Walhalla memorial. In the photo above, one can see the columns of the former castle chapel.

Benrath Palace in Düsseldorf
Benrath Palace (Schloss Benrath) saw its construction between 1755 and 1773. The number of floors differs between the outside and the courtyard side. The servants’ rooms on the inside are lower than the staterooms on the outside.

Völklingen Ironworks
The Völklingen Ironworks (Völklinger Hütte) is a World Heritage Site and part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage. Today it houses the Ferrodrom, an interactive science centre focusing on the making of iron. I took this photo from a platform of the nearby railway station of Völklingen.

A gondolier in Nuremberg
During my visit to Nuremberg, locals told me there was a guy with a gondola licence. After some hours watching the river in the middle of the city, I was able to catch him in a photo. The building in the background is named Heilig-Geist-Spital. It served as a home for old and sick people in earlier times.
