The landmark of Graz is a clock tower, generally known as the Uhrturm. It is placed on top of a rock in the middle of the city. So, visitors see it from many places. Near the tower, there is a station for a special elevator. The shaft runs inside the rock and links the city with the clock tower.

Starcke Haus in Graz
The Starcke Haus stands on a rock named Schloßberg in the middle of Graz. The German actor Gustav Starcke (1848-1921) lived here for many years and wrote some poems about the Schloßberg. Today, it houses a restaurant where one can have a fine meal with a view of Graz.
Murinsel in Graz
The Murinsel in Graz is a floating platform in the Mur River. US artist Vito Acconci designed this construction in 2003. Two footbridges connect the platform with both banks of the river. Inside the dome, visitors find a café where they can watch canoeists driving by. [German]

In August 2007 I visited the Styrian armoury (Landeszeughaus) of Graz which is famous for its large collection of weaponry and armour intended for a defensive army against Ottoman and Hungarian troops.
Steam locomotive BR 52.1227 in Graz
While waiting in the red train at the right side of the photo a huge steam locomotive stopped next to me. It was built in 1944 and one of the so-called war locomotives of the DRB Class 52. Well, I left my train on the spot taking this photo.
