This sundial is at the St George’s Chapel of Hohensalzburg Fortress (Festung Hohensalzburg). It shows the emblems of the Archbishopric Salzburg and Archbishop Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg. The original sundial was created in the 16th century. Today, you see a reconstruction from 2001.

Lamp at Salzburg Central Station
The rebuilt central station of Salzburg still uses some elements of the old railway station. For example, 100+-year-old tile paintings and lamps like the one shown above provide a vintage feeling in the entrance hall.
Monument to Elisabeth of Salzburg
The Empress Elisabeth Railway (Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Bahn) served the railroad between Vienna and Salzburg until 1884. Today, you still see a monument to Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) in a small park at the Salzburg Central Station.
Unicorn at Mirabell Gardens
Near one of the entrances to the Mirabell Gardens (Mirabellgarten), I saw this sculpture of an unicorn. But this was not the only lively statue in this park of Salzburg City. So I also came across a sunbathing lion.

A cow painted with scenes of the movie “The Sound of Music”. This piece stands next to a booth in Salzburg where people buy tickets for bus tours to the sets of this famous American movie.

A dreamy place for a dinner in Salzburg is the inneryard of the restaurant St. Peter Stiftskeller. This site was first mentioned in the year 803 by the scholar Alcuin – a follower of Charlemagne.
Salzburg Cathedral
The Salzburg Cathedral (Dom zu Salzburg) saw its construction in the 17th century. In the background, you find the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. Interesting detail: From the Cathedral Museum (Dommuseum), you see the nave from above.
Public inner yard in Salzburg
This pic shows one of the numerous public inner yards connecting the shopping lane Getreidegasse with parallel streets in the city of Salzburg. The local name for the surrounding buildings is Durchhäuser (through-houses).

Linzertor Mural in Salzburg
The Linzergasse is, after the Getreidegasse, the second most famous shopping street in Salzburg. In the past, several gates secured this access lane. Today, the Linzertor Mural reminds pedestrians of one of these gates named Linzertor.
