Interesting detail seen at the Baroque church of Haus im Ennstal: Gentlemen are sitting at the right pews, for the ladies are the left pews reserved. On the right side, there is one row less than on the left side. That means: Gentlemen have more space between the rows.

Sundial at a church in Haus
Colorful sundial seen at a church in Haus. The phrase one can see below the sundial is a kind of memento mori: “Wer an dieser Uhr ersieht die Stunden dieser Zeit denkt deren eine schickt mich einst in die Ewigkeit”.
Hauser Kaibling in Styria
Only a pink sheep was witness: After a small climb, I enrolled myself into the summit register (Gipfelbuch) of the Hauser Kaibling. Speaking about sheep: There is an trail about sheep around the summit.
Project Schafsinn in Haus
A cute project in Haus, a place in the Austrian province Styria: Schafsinn. At a mountain next to Haus, there is a theme path where people are told about sheep. Besides reading the info boards along the trail, you also meet the sheep grazing up and down the hill.
Monument to Peter Rosegger
This Peter Rosegger monument stands in Kapfenberg. He became famous as a regional writer. The inscription mentions him as a poet of the forest (Waldpoet), which refers to the fact that he grew up in the nearby woodland and wrote much about life there.
Main square of Graz
View of the main square (Hauptplatz) of Graz taken from the balcony of the city hall. The clock tower (Uhrturm) on top of the hill is the landmark of the city. The monument in the middle of the place is about Archduke John of Austria (Erzherzog Johann) who was a big modernizer for the city and the state of Styria.
Lovely inner yard in Graz
I took this photo while climbing up to a gallery located in the fifth store of an old building in the centre of Graz. One can find these lovely inner yards especially at the 1st district of the city. Some of them are open for public.
Over the rooftops of Graz
View from the terrace of the Gallery Remixx in Graz. The church on the left side is the Cathedral (Dom) of Graz, the three spires on the right side belong to the Katharinenkirche and the mausoleum of Emperor Friedrich II.
Fountain made of steel in Mürzzuschlag
You find this fountain in Mürzzuschlag, a city known for steel processing plants nearby. I love the idea behind the use of stainless steel. It reminds us that the development of stainless chrome steel started in this region in 1912.
Impression of the Semmering Railway
I am often tweeting while being on a train of the Semmering Railway (Semmeringbahn) in Austria. This time I went through the same area on foot.
MStE E 2 (1913) in Mixnitz
The manufacturer AEG produced the MStE E 2 in 1913. Its track gauge is 760 mm, generally known as the Bosnian Gauge in Austria. It still runs for the Lokalbahn Mixnitz–Sankt Erhard (LBMStE), also called Breitenauerbahn (Breitenau Railway).
A tributary valley in Styria
The reason why I like train journeys in Styria: It’s all about the landscape. This photo taken on my way back from Breitenau to Mixnitz made me think, walking barefooted in this field could be a good idea now. What to you think?
