Bruck Castle in Lienz, Austria

The Counts of Gorizia built Bruck Castle (Schloss Bruck) in the 13th century. The creator of the frescoes in the worth-seeing chapel was the late Gothic artist Simon von Taisten. At the museum, you find monumental paintings by Albin Egger-Lienz. [German]

Lienz Museum

Inside the castle, you find the Municipal Museum of Lienz. Its Egger-Lienz-Galerie displays a collection of monumental works created by artist Albin Egger-Lienz. There are also collections about the region’s history, the region, folk art and natural history.

Simon von Taisten

The chapel of Bruck Castle is a gem. It is full of frescoes created by Simon von Taisten. This late Gothic artist became famous for frescoes, panel paintings, and altarpieces in Puster Valley, East Tyrol, Carinthia and Gorizia.
