The Museum of Military History (Heeresgeschichtliches Museum) in Vienna is an architectural gem. So you find architecture in the style of Byzantine as well as Neo-Gothic. Some details made me think of being in Venice
Museum of Military History in Vienna
The museum shows the history of the Austrian army from the Ottoman Wars to now. The displays range from pathetic sculptures of Austrian field commanders in the Grand Staircase to scaring illustrations of the battles during World War I.
The building dates back to the 19th century. Its balcony makes me think of one of these palaces in Venice, but the museum stands in Vienna. You’ll find it in the Arsenal area near the railway station Wien Hauptbahnhof.
On the museum grounds, you see a collection of armoured vehicles. The park behind the museum is often a venue for medieval festivals, classic car festivals and Christmas markets.
