This manhole cover displays the cathedral of Naumburg (Saale). The German full name is Naumburger Dom St. Peter und St. Paul. The cathedral dates back to the 13th century and is part of the Romanesque Road (Straße der Romanik) in Saxony-Anhalt.
Uta of Naumburg
One of the most famous statues inside the cathedral is Uta of Naumburg. The piece is actually a depiction of Uta von Ballenstedt, one of the twelve donators to the cathedral.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
Naumburg Cathedral was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. As a result, the manhole covers in Naumburg (Saale) promote not only a city attraction but also a World Heritage site.
