It is pretty old: The Chiemsee Railway (Chiemseebahn) dates back to 1887. Though this railway doesn’t exactly meet the definition of a tramway, it is considered the oldest still operating steam tramway in the world.
The railway links the Prien am Chiemsee railway station with the shipping pier on the Chiemsee. From there, the beautiful Herrenchiemsee Palace (Schloss Herrenchiemsee) is only a boat trip away. This part of a German movie shows details of the train > YouTube.
