Over the rooftops of Salzburg

View of Salzburg from Mönchsberg Hill, Austria

A narrow panoramic path leads in front of the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg. From there, I had this formidable view over the rooftops of Salzburg and Hohensalzburg Fortress.

The steeples of Salzburg

You see nearly all steeples of Salzburg. So you will discover the towers of Salzburg Cathedral as well as the black dome of the Collegiate Church. In addition, the slender Gothic steeple of the Franciscan Church and the onion dome of St. Peter’s Abbey Church rise before your eyes.

Museum der Moderne

The Museum der Moderne houses exhibitions about contemporary art. From the city centre, you perceive it as a white cuboid on top of the Mönchsberg Hill.

Mönchsberg Lift

An easy way to reach the viewpoint is to take the Mönchsberg Lift. You’ll find this elevator at the address Gstättengasse 13. The lift rises you inside the rock of the Mönchsberg Hill up to the top within 30 seconds.
