A mural near the railway station Wien Meidling reminds us that one of the first Austrian locomotives originated from the USA. The Norris Locomotive Works in Philadelphia assembled the WRB Philadelphia in 1837.
WRB Philadelphia
The WRB Philadelphia served for the Vienna-Raab Railway (Wien-Raaber Bahn). The locomotive supported the railroad works next to today’s Meidling station. Therefore, this mosaic reminds all passengers of this historic US locomotive on Austrian tracks.
